Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions

Why the first Saturday in June?

We wanted to have a connection to the European Neighbours Day which takes place the first Tuesday in May and we wanted to create a day where thousands of people would get together on the same day to celebrate the importance of being a good neighbour. For those reasons, we decided on a fixed date, the first Saturday in June.

Can we have a celebration on another day?
If there are reasons why you cannot have an event on the set date, you can have a celebration at a time of your choosing. But still make sure to register with your municipality if it is participating and on the Neighbours Day site.

What if the weather does not cooperate?
You worked hard for your Neighbours Day event to be a success, it would be a shame to cancel on the account of bad weather. On your invitations, make sure to indicate that if the weather is bad, the celebration will be postponed to the next day or to the following Saturday. If you have access to an indoor location, you could also hold the event there in the event of bad weather.

If our municipality is not participating, can we still participate?
Yes, of course. Whether your municipality is participating or not, you can still organize a celebration with your neighbours. The role being proposed to interested municipalities is to act as relays in helping to give residents an urge to participate. Even if your municipality is not registered, let it know that you are participating. It will let you know if any special measures are required.
